Using nearshore programmers in Costa Rica is as simple as bringing in a consultant locally. Our guys work in teams of two; one senior, one junior. Typically, the senior developer will come on-site at your location for one to four weeks to get acclimated to your environment. After that, they work from our development center in Costa Rica and interact directly with your team. They will be dedicated to your project for the duration of the contract and will be available by phone or videoconference from 8:00 PM to 5:00 PM CST. Manage them the way you manage your own staff. Because they're so available and communicate so clearly, there is no need for any additional specifications or procedures.

You may be used to having a person from your contracting company on-site to attend meetings and relay information to the off-shore team. Works great, doesn't it? It probably would if he could also answer all the questions they have, but you're probably used to losing entire days of development time because of after-hour questions that come up and stop development cold. This type of arrangement creates overhead and adds layers to the process that cause breakdowns in communication and really slow down the process. It's necessary because of the time difference, turnover and verbal communication difficulties, but it's not agile. You'll avoid all of that with Prosoft Nearshore and still enjoy the scalability that led you to off-shore originally.
